MUSEU FREDERIC MARÈs
The Museu Frederic Marès in Barcelona houses a large collection of random items that artist Frederic Marès collected throughout his life. Collected items include watches, pipes, statues of Jesus, keys, and more.
With part 1 of this project being creating posters of things that are weird or ugly, I decided that I wanted to make a brand identity for a museum that houses things that could be found on such posters. My original idea was to  base the design on an entirely hypothetical museum, but then I was reminded of this museum that I had visited while studying abroad in Barcelona. Although the collection was not ugly in any sense, The sheer number of random objects was enough to have a sort of jarring or strange effect on me and other visitors.
I wanted this museum to be marketed as a mix of a sophisticated museum showing fine art & artifacts, and a place home to an astounding collection of interesting, and often times weird, items. People walking in should be expecting to learn of cultural and historical artifacts that tell the story of Barcelona and Marès, but also have fun in the process.
